Our first news post!

Our first news post! What a wild ride this past 18 months has been. Global pandemic aside, and whilst I still wear my tour manager hat with pride, even though there’s been a lot less of it during this time, I’m enormously grateful for the wonderful community with whom I’ve been able to connect via The Back Lounge.

Global pandemic aside, and whilst I still wear my tour manager hat with pride, even though there’s been a lot less of it during this time, I’m enormously grateful for the wonderful community with whom I’ve been able to connect via The Back Lounge.

In a time when identity and what we do, or more to the point have been unable to do, having a group of amazing people scattered around the world who can say “Yep, I feel that too” has been a sanctuary. With an unbelievable 9 days until our first birthday, I’m grateful to that initial facebook post and the many, many people who have taken part in our sessions since June 2020 and our illustrious roll call of guests who have given their time and wisdom to us voluntarily from the start.

A special thanks to Chayim Newman and Zack Borer and all the good folks at Backline.care. Your COVID support groups saved my sorry arse when things felt so dark last April and you continue to lead the way and be an inspiration!

And a massive thanks and appreciation to our beloved Back Loungers who contributed to this website – Valerie Potter for your inspired input with the writing, Joanne Croxford for the comprehensive Resources; and Simon Schofield, Julie Cotton and Ruth Robinson for the beautiful photos.

And of course to everyone who likes a post, emojis the hell out of our what’s app groups and joins us on zoom on Wednesdays from wherever you are in the world. You rock!!!

Thank you TPI for announcing the free workshops for the touring industry coming soon via The BACK LOUNGE. First one next week Monday 21st June 6pm BST London.
These are for anyone with a connection to touring – musicians, crew, agents, management etc. All welcome. We’re looking at how to deal with those heated moments, creating boundaries and how to get better sleep and cope with jet lag. Eventbrite links in the article.
